By Car
From the north: A1 motorway Orvieto exit, then follow signs for the historic centre. The Well is in Piazza Cahen, just after the funicular station. Parking is available outside the walls and at Orvieto Scalo.

The Orvieto Scalo station is served by the Rome–Florence (Direttissima) line. From the station take the funicular which takes you straight to the historic centre. St Patrick's Well is a 2-minute walk from the upper funicular station.

From Orvieto Cathedral St Patrick's Well is about a 10-minute walk along Via del Duomo and then Via della Cava to Piazza Cahen. The whole route runs through the medieval historic centre — scenic and pleasant.

The Orvieto Funicular
The funicular connects Orvieto Scalo (the railway station) to the historic centre at the top of the crag. In service since 1888, it is one of the city's symbols and the easiest way to get up from below. At the top of the funicular, Piazza Cahen and St Patrick's Well are less than a 2-minute walk away.
